Ōmizo Castle

Ōmizo Castle was a Japanese castle in the town of Ōmizo in Ōmi, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and Igan shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe discussed with Rokkaku Katsuhime about retrieving her mentor Sugitani Zenjūbō's teppō from the fort. However, Naoe learned from a note that Katsuhime had left without her. Rushing there, she arrived too late and watched from outside as the castle's captain Isono Kazumasa shot and injured Katsuhime, who was running into the area. Entering the grounds, Naoe fought and killed Kazumasa and his men before extracting Katsuhime to safety.[1] Afterwards, Naoe and Yasuke returned to the castle, eliminated two samurai daisho, and acquired Mamushi Snake Hood from the fortress' treasure chest. While there, Naoe climbed atop the tenshu to survey Lake Biwa and Ōmizo.[2]
