The Sekhmet outfit worn by the champion

The champion of Sekhmet was the role played by a combatant in the main event of the Festival of Sekhmet, held in the Temple of Sekhmet of Yamu, Egypt, during the 1st century BCE.

The event depicted the fight between the lion-goddess Sekhmet and her nemesis, Isfet.[1]

Usually, Pamu served in the role, but in 48 BCE, he was too drunk to participate, and the Medjay Bayek of Siwa stepped in, instead.[1]

According to the High Priest's narration, if the audience's hearts were marred by malice, Isfet would win, and condemn their village "to a hundred seasons of darkness."[1]
