History

Searching for Shao Jun's treasure

In 2019, a young lady Kō Risa was sent to the facility to receive treatment and therapy over her violent tendencies at school. While there, Risa was put into an Animus by Doctor Kaori Kagami, who was a Templar searching for the lost treasure of the Assassin Shao Jun. Since Risa was one of her descendants, Kagami made sure to study and learn where Jun's treasure went. The following day after their first session, Kagami put Risa back into the Animus to relive Jun's memories. Easing and manipulating Risa, Dr. Kagami assured her that she would help her overcome her problems. However, after putting Risa back into the Animus again, she explained to her colleague that she does not care about Risa's well-being and only about any Precursor artifacts.

While reliving Shao Jun's memory of the Eight Tigers' fire in Macau, Risa came out of the Animus grief-striken while Dr. Kagami consoled and comforted her before she left. However, Dr. Kagami revealed her process with her supervisor Ellen Kaye, who warned her not to flounder her chance and be wary especially after her failure at the Madrid facility. At her next session, Risa relayed the hallucinations she experienced to her doctor, but Dr. Kagami explained that this response is temporary. Assured, she continued to relive Shao's memories. When an assistant comes in, the doctor demands him to take notes due to her progressing even further than with her last subject.

However, Risa awoke from the simulation and began to feel happy upon discovering Shao Jun's friendship with Zhang Qijie. Worried, Dr. Kagami realized Risa may become on those subjects who might develop enhanced abilities. The next moment she awoke again, Risa learned that Shao Jun had the ability of Eagle Vision and unintentionally caught Dr. Kagami's pen before it fell to the floor. Realizing the Bleeding effect has taken more ahold of her, Risa ended the session early. After meeting with her cousin Mari, Risa learned of Dr. Kagami's true intentions but still wanted to relive Shao Jun's memories and to see what treasure the Templars are searching.

Lisa becomes a hostage

After reliving Shao Jun rescue the empress, Lisa awoke and requested to leave from Dr. Kagami's session before stating not wanting to have any lasting effects from the Animus. Shocked, Dr. Kagami confronted Lisa about being close to Jun's treasure. Lisa tried to escape but Dr. Kagami locked the doors and pulled a gun on her. Explaining her past at the Madrid location, Dr. Kagami had her guards force Lisa back into Animus for further inspection of Jun's memories.

However, Dr. Kagami's mission was for naught as Shao Jun's box was lost after Zhang Yong sent it away from China to other allies. After the memory was completed, Lisa awoke and confronted Dr. Kagami on exploiting her. Meanwhile, Japanese Assassin Kiyoshi Takakura and Lisa's cousin Mari fight their way through the facility to rescue Lisa. Lisa managed to disarmed Dr. Kagami of her gun and took down her two guards. Aiming the gun on Dr. Kagami, Lisa was found by Kiyoshi and Mari. Lisa thanked Dr. Kagami for helping access her ancestor's memory before shooting and destroying the doctor's Animus. Leaving the facility, the girls and Kiyoshi are met by Mentor Saeko Mochizuki. Saeko offers Lisa a choice to join the Assassin, to which she accepts along with Mari. Saeko tasks the girl to find the Jun's Precursor box themselves and Lisa and Mari accept the responsibility.
