The Abstergo Industries Yokohama facility was a complex belonging to Abstergo Industries located in Yokohama, Japan. The facility functioned as a clinic offering treatment to individuals with mental disorders, though in reality these individuals were used by the Templars as Animus test subjects, being made to relive their ancestors' genetic memories to further Abstergo's overarching goals.

Searching for Shao Jun's treasure[edit | edit source]
In 2019, a young lady, Lisa Huang, was sent to the facility to receive treatment and therapy over her violent tendencies at school. While there, Risa was put into an Animus by Doctor Kaori Kagami, who was a Templar searching for a lost treasure of the Assassin Shao Jun. Since Risa was one of her descendants, Kagami made sure to study and learn where Shao Jun's treasure had gone.[1]
The day after their first session, Kagami had Lisa re-enter the Animus to relive Shao Jun's genetic memories. Easing and manipulating Lisa, Kagami assured her that she would help her overcome her problems. However, after placing Lisa back in the Animus, she explained to a colleague that she did not care about Lisa's well-being and only about any Precursor artifacts.[2]
While reliving Shao Jun's memory of the Eight Tigers' fire in Macau, Lisa came out of the Animus grief-stricken. Kagami consoled and comforted her before she left. Later, Kagami spoke to her supervisor Ellen Kaye, who warned her not to flounder her chance and to be wary, reminding her of her previous failure at the Abstergo facility in Madrid, Spain.[3] At her next session, Lisa relayed the hallucinations she experienced to her doctor, but Kagami explained that this response was temporary. Assured, Lisa continued to relive Shao Jun's memories. When an assistant came in, the doctor demanded that he take notes due to her progressing even further than with her last subject, Lin.[4]
Lisa soon awoke from the simulation and began to feel happy upon discovering Shao Jun's friendship with Empress Zhang Qijie. Worried, Kagami realized that Lisa may become one of those test subjects who developed enhanced abilities through the Bleeding Effect.[4] The next time Lisa awoke, she learned that Shao Jun had the ability of Eagle Vision and unintentionally caught Kagami's pen before it fell to the floor. Realizing the Bleeding Effect had taken more hold of her, Lisa ended the session early.[5] After meeting with her cousin Mari, Lisa learned of Kagami's true intentions but still wanted to relive Shao Jun's memories, to see how her story concluded and discover what was the treasure the Templars were looking for.[6]
Taking Lisa hostage[edit | edit source]
After reliving Shao Jun's rescue of the Empress,[7] Lisa awoke and requested to leave for the day, stating she did not want to have any lasting effects from the Animus. Shocked, Kagami confronted Lisa about being close to Shao Jun's treasure. Lisa tried to escape but Kagami locked the doors and pulled a pistol on her.[8] Explaining her past at the Madrid location, Kagami had her guards force Lisa back into Animus for further inspection of Shao Jun's memories.[9]
However, Kagami's mission was for naught as Shao Jun's box was lost after Zhang Yong sent it away from China. After the memory was completed, Lisa awoke and confronted Kagami on exploiting her.[10] Meanwhile, the Japanese Assassin Kiyoshi Takakura and Lisa's cousin Mari fought their way through the facility to rescue Lisa. Lisa managed to disarm Kagami of her gun and took down her two guards. Aiming the gun at Kagami, Lisa was found by Kiyoshi and Mari.[11]
Lisa thanked the doctor for helping access her ancestor's memory before shooting and destroying her Animus. Leaving the facility, the girls and Kiyoshi were met by the Japanese Brotherhood's Mentor, Saeko Mochizuki. She offered Lisa a choice to join the Assassin, which she accepted along with Mari. Saeko then tasked the girls to find Shao Jun's Precursor box themselves, and the pair accepted the responsibility.[11]
