IU v OOU

Following Huntbelmont's little breakdown over changes made to Renovation, it struck me that there is no explicit mention of the requirement for articles to be written from an in-universe perspective (unless dealing with an out-of-universe subject) within the Manual of Style. If somebody has the time, could this be added in, please? That way I can actually cite the MoS in future. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 10:46, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

Possessive needs updating

The policy being enforced currently in most cases is not reflected in what's written here in th MoS. This either needs to be updated or we need to change how we are enforcing possessive nouns endin in "S". Lacrossedeamon (talk) 02:43, November 13, 2018 (UTC)

First, if current practice is deviating from the Manual of Style, it would be that those practices are in error unless decided otherwise by consensus, not that the MoS is outdated. Second of all, negligence in enforcement is not the same thing as enforcing it differently, and finally, how is the way we're enforcing it in violation of the MoS currently? I've been told all singular possessive nouns ending in S are to use just ' instead of 's no matter the case and even if contradicted in-game such Hades' Bident which in game is Hades's Bident.Lacrossedeamon (talk) 03:17, November 13, 2018 (UTC)
What if possessives in in-game item descriptions use 's, such as this one for the Poseidon ship figurehead; Poseidon, Zeus's brother and god of the sea is depicted with his trident, which was allegedly forged by the Cyclopes. The Cat Master (talk) 03:46, November 13, 2018 (UTC)
Lacrosse, who told you that? Did I tell you that? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 15:21, November 13, 2018 (UTC)
I heard it from Sadelyrate on the Hades' Bident talk page who heard it from Jasca. Odyssey in all cases uses 's but I can see the problem arising as Origins doesn’t, namely the Anubis outfits. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 16:33, November 13, 2018 (UTC)

Appearances

As Sol pointed out, 'appear' suggests being seen. This opens a whole new barrel of monkeys, because there's a slew of articles with just (mentioned only) following their appearance; mention doesn't really count as 'being seen'. Statues, artworks, all that jazz, visible and clear and easy. Mentions? Not really.

(If this seems nitpicky, try playing a game the rules of which you don't know.) Sadelyrate (siniath) 19:31, May 16, 2019 (UTC)
Can you re-read my initial explanation to you on this entirely? I have already addressed why we use mentions in my very original explanation to you. Given your comment here and your replies there, it seems that you either did not read or have repeatedly misread the explanation given to you. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 21:07, May 16, 2019 (UTC)
