You see that big button in the top right hand corner that says "Add message"? If you need to leave me a message, USE IT. I don't mind people adding to sections if it's relevant, but if you want to talk about something different entirely, it only takes one click above this to do so. I am not a janitor, so don't make me clean up your mess.

Forum problem

Vesper, a user named JackDick recently created a forum, as you may have noticed, Here. I tried to put the content, which was above the line, to the bottom, but for some reason the forum header doesn't move downwards. Any ideas? Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 01:21, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

The forum header shouldn't move downwards. The page should be alright now. Slate Vesper (talk) 01:26, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Mariner Image

I'm really sorry. I used the "Public Domain" template because one of the first concept arts I posted (done by the same person), it got edited. I wasn't sure what template I should give it, but I went with either the 'Screenshot' or 'Cc-by-sa-3.0' one. Someone later changed it into the Public Domain one, and I found it fit better so I used it from then on for all the concept arts I've uploaded of that person.

Oh shit, I really should've put something in the attention part. I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking straight. Is it even okay if these are uploaded? The concept artist, Borislav Mitkov, posted the concept arts in multiple places, among which was cghub, a place where previous concept artists of the multiplayer portion have posted their work, such as Antoine Rol and Anais Bernabé. Maybe I shouldn't have made their backgrounds transparent, but I thought it was okay to put up his work here. Isn't his work property of Ubisoft? Crookandcharlatan (talk) 10:02, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Stop panicking. All you would need to do is ask the artist's permission and make sure to use Screenshots or Cc-by-sa-3.0 next time.

And yes, it would be Ubisoft property, since they are designs for one of their games, which they employed the artist for. Their IP, so any production material like artistic designs belongs to them. Slate Vesper (talk) 18:01, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for freaking out. If it is Ubisoft's property, then there isn't a problem with it being on the Wiki, right? Or am I mixing up things? I'm just a bit confused by the 'asking for the artist's permission', I can't fathom the people of the Wiki doing that for every artist that's worked for Ubisoft. Maybe I'm seeing it a bit too simplistic, but I thought anything that belonged to Ubisoft, aka the artists' work, would be okay to post here, as long as it's properly sourced. Am I wrong in thinking that? Is there a more complex procedure that I've somehow missed?
Also, just for future reference, what is the Public Domain template used for? ^^; Crookandcharlatan (talk) 18:31, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Revamp Animi Avatars Pages

Hey there, Slate

So, there's been a "Revamp template" hovering atop the Animi Avatars (Brotherhood) page for quite some time, and I'd like to try my hand at fixing it up. I'd like to try it by myself, since I tend to shy away from revamps and I'd like to get better at it, but if you want to participate, I don't really have the right to say you can't. I'd like to ask you something though, since you're the most multiplayer-oriented admin (also, GI recommended you): when do I utilize "primary/secondary" stage and when do I utilize "first/second" stage? (cause the article titles themselves are quite OOU)

Thanks in advance ^^ Crookandcharlatan (talk) 16:09, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Primary/secondary/tertiary/quaternary are for the categories, because Abstergo are linked throughout all the renditions of the multiplayer, so they must have some plans behind it all.

For the in-article context, first stage is Brotherhood, second stage for Revelations, and console stage is for AC3 currently, with Black Flag probably being the second console stage. Slate Vesper (talk) 17:37, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Some MediaWiki:Common.js coding please

Hello StormbeastSlate,

Could you do me a favour and add this coding to MediaWiki:Common.js

$(function () {
    if (wgUserName) {
        $('.username-replace').text(wgUserName);
    }
});

This will make my template {{Username}} work, showing the username of the person who visits the page.

Greetings,

Ow, I saw your mark of deletion. I made a new template, because this one will work with this coding, while the other one doesn't. But we could merge them of course, I just didn't want to disturb that coding.

I wouldn't mind merging them, but I don't have access. Vatsa does though.

Oh, and I'm Slate by the way. Storm is a different Staff member. :P Slate Vesper (talk) 22:54, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

I've merged them now, you can delete my template. And you mean you don't have access to the mediawiki page?
I believe only Vatsa, Amnestyy and Sima would have access considering they're bureaucrats. Slate Vesper (talk) 23:00, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

Multiplayer taunts

Hi, Slate, I has a multiplayer-related question :x

I've spent a bit of my time (a little too much actually) listening and listing the multiplayer taunts from ACR. And based on what I found, I concluded that multiplayer characters have seven available taunts: selecting one of the three taunts in the character customization screen gives you two taunts the character can use when a target/civillian is selected (e.g. the Corsair's third taunt "Fear my revenge" has the additional "Buon viaggio" taunt). So altogether that would add up to six, with one taunt left for when the character stuns a pursuer.

However, I've run into an issue; there's a blog on tumblr called "allsoundsasscreed", which records and uploads soundtracks, dialogue and vocal clips. And for one of the characters, there's an eighth taunt that I can't seem to trigger, or at least, I don't know how. The character in question is the Guardian, of which I managed to trigger the following seven taunts this afternoon:

  • "Out of my way!" (taunt #1)
  • "Beg my forgiveness!" (taunt #2)
  • "Clumsy ape!" (taunt #3)
  • "Behold!" (additional taunt accompanying taunt #1)
  • "I fear no man." (additional taunt accompanying taunt #2)
  • "Face me!" (additional taunt accompanying taunt #3)
  • "I don't have time for this." (taunt after stunning a pursuer)

And then there's this one: http://allsoundsasscreed.tumblr.com/post/17704495912/you-have-sullied-my-blade-the-guardian-odai

I know it's a very trivial issue, but I've always liked the taunts and I believe they add character to the Animi Avatars ^^; Anyway, I was just hoping you might know how I can trigger that last taunt. I've updated a few articles so far with the taunts I heard myself, and simultaneously reworded those animations (I hope you don't mind), added in little tidbits for the clothes (the Guardian was very bare when it come to customization description :|) and removed images that are kind of out of date. I've gone through the history of some of those articles, which was kind of amusing sometimes; I feel we are approaching the construction of Animi Avatar articles better this time around :) That is all, apologies for this absurdly long post ^^; Crookandcharlatan (talk) 19:15, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

I wouldn't quite know how to trigger the eight taunt, as I was working under the same assumption that you have been (kills x2, stuns x1 for a total of 7). Perhaps it's for when you escape someone?
Also, you've been doing a great job on the MP pages so far. I'll give them a little once over and fix anything if it needs it, but I'm happy with your progress so far. :D Slate Vesper (talk) 19:28, August 28, 2013 (UTC)
Hmm, I've sent a message to the person that records them, so perhaps that'll shed some light on things (probably should've thought of that earlier). Hopefully she'll reply in the coming days.
And no worries ^^ I was a bit stuck on what to do on the Wiki after the multiplayer maps, so I've just taken this on as my little project. Describing clothing is difficult though (especially if the design just looks cool, but not very logical) :P Crookandcharlatan (talk) 19:50, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

George's Sword

Hey Ves, do we even need this? Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:03, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

If we were to make it, it would follow the same format as the rest of the weapon pages. Slate Vesper (talk) 14:05, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

Well, should I proceed? Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:06, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
If you want to proceed with the page, use Dagger as comparison material. Slate Vesper (talk) 14:07, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Done, thanks for the opportunity. I have did it to the best of my ability. Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:18, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
I have created this too. Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:29, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Okay. Use my edits to George's sword to help improve Lincoln's sword too. Slate Vesper (talk) 14:31, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
Done :) Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:33, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
A little touch up, and double done. :P Slate Vesper (talk) 14:36, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
I noticed. Thanks! Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:37, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

That said, couldn't we consider creating articles for the craftable pistols too apart from Firearms? Because I don't see where I can put the list into. Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 14:43, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

Apologies

I sincerely apologize for annoying you as you said in that forum. I apologize for Kain too, for he is a good man. Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 06:36, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

Mentoring

Hey Slate,

So, don't jump to conclusions because of that title :P Alty recommended certain people for mentoring (since I recently applied for the Apprenticeship Program), and one of them was you. I had a check and you weren't listed in the Mentor's lounge, but I asked on the IRC and AnimusRadiation replied you were in fact a mentor. So I'm here to ask you, on the advice of Sima, why you're not listed there. It's just me being curious, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to :) Crookandcharlatan (talk) 11:38, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

Like all Staff members, I can choose to be a Mentor to an Apprentice if I wish. I haven't elected to be one though because I don't think I'd be able to give out assignments and evaluate the changes to them as well as other Mentors, and since the Apprenticeship Program serves to help both the Apprentice's editing skills and the quality of the Wiki, for the latter part, I may not be getting the best revamps out of an Apprentice because of my judgement abilities.
Perhaps it's a pussy-weak excuse, but I'm the kind of person who likes to be absolutely certain about things before I act on them. Slate Vesper (talk) 13:21, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Doit. Fgt. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 13:29, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
No, that's fine, I was merely curious :P If I was staff, I probably wouldn't be able to do it either, being a Mentor. Crookandcharlatan (talk) 13:28, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
And Slate, I recommended him you because you two had that multiplayer-interest-factor in common :) Altaïr Skywalker 47Agency Laptop 13:34, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
I guessed Alty, but as a Mentor, I wouldn't always be able to give someone multiplayer pages as assignments. Slate Vesper (talk) 13:36, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Also, I do the assigning of Mentors. And Slate has already told me that he would prefer not to be a Mentor. Nesty Contact me! 13:37, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

IU weapons categories

Hey there, Slate, it's good ol' Crim here. I was wondering if you've made any decisions about IU weapons categories like American Revolution weapons? Because I'm just about to categorise weapons by what type they are (short blades, et al.) and I thought it would make sense to get both done at once. --Crimson Knight Intercom 15:09, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

It all depends on what we'd name ACB and ACR weapons. I have Third Crusade weapons and Italian Renaissance weapons in mind for AC and AC2, but whether or not "Liberation of Rome weapons" and "Ottoman Renaissance/Empire weapons" would fit for Brotherhood and Revelations. AC4 can have Golden Age of Piracy weapons. Slate Vesper (talk) 20:03, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

They both seem fine to me. The only one I have small doubts for is "Liberation of Rome weapons", but I'm not sure if there are many alternatives. I shall muse over this. --Crimson Knight Intercom 20:17, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

I brought the subject up on the IRC, and Sima suggested that we adopt this method:

  • "15th century weapons" for AC2
  • "16th century weapons" for ACB and ACR
  • "18th century weapons" for AC3, AC4, and AC3L

And I'm assuming we can use "12th century weapons" for what little AC weapons we have. I'm cool with whatever we decide, in all honesty, but I just thought I'd let you know. --Crimson Knight Intercom 20:35, September 9, 2013 (UTC)

That's alright in some respect, but I'd rather that weapon pages for more than one game don't merge under one category, since it may confuse someone looking for AC3's weapons into thinking they can get something from AC3L or AC4 in their game. That's why I've chosen to make them specific to the main event that each game covers, considering that future titles can always occur in the 12th century or similar times. Re: Warning

Hello Slate Vesper,

If possible, I would like to discuss with you, why I have been given a warning, I understand that originally, I was edit warring but it was my impression that an agreement had been put into place, the page would read Welsh, but upon clicking the hyperlink, the user would be directed towards the United Kingdom page, if that is no longer the case, please let me know but this was agreed upon by admins. As for my warning, is there anyway of getting this revoked, I was only doing what I thought Alientraveller and I agreed upon, obviously not realising it would get me into trouble with admins.

Thank you,

SionIeuanDavies (talk) 16:50, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

I gave you a warning because calling Edward Kenway "Welsh" was not fully agreed upon, and so to settle the matter, I made an edit stating that he was "born in Wales" in the second paragraph of his page to accomodate his heritage while still allowing "British" to remain. However, you still continued to swap British for Welsh, even after everything should have been sorted.
Keep in mind however that it is only a first warning. So long as you've learned that edit-warring is not tolerated, and that you can ask people on their talk pages (like this) when you have an issue to discuss, and take the Wiki's rules and policies into mind, you'll likely never get another warning. After all, even I have had a first warning. Slate Vesper (talk) 17:18, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

And nao

You get a userbox, as do all the purple people here.

Enjoy. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 15:10, September 16, 2013 (UTC)
