Tokugawa Nariaki (徳川 斉昭; 1800 – 1860) was a daimyo of the Mito Domain and the father of the 15th and last shōgun Tokugawa Yoshinobu of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan. His nationalistic views led him to despise Westerners' interferences with Japan's affairs.[1] Thus, he developed and laid some foundations for the Meiji Restoration.[2]
