A manifestation of Sekhmet generated by the Animus

Sekhmet, also known as the Lady of Slaughter, is an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with fire, war and healing. Often depicted as a lioness, she is also the goddess of fertility alongside her husband Ptah. A temple in worship of her was located in Yamu, where festivals were held which displayed her triumph against Isfet.[1]

Sekhmet was also the patron deity of Letopolis, having being worshipped by residents for years. However, sometime prior to 49 BCE, Taharqa, the steward of the city, elected to have Sekhmet replaced with Horus instead. A group of priests of Sekhmet deemed his actions as a nact of sacrilege and thus made an invocation to Sekhmet at the cost of their own lives. In the years that followed, large parts of the city became consumed by the desert, including the Temple of Sekhmet, causing Taharqa to build a new temple by the Nile instead.[2]

In 2017, whilst Layla Hassan was exploring Bayek of Siwa's memories in the portable Animus HR-8, an emotion sensor overload in the device resulted in a manifestation of Sekhmet that she needed to combat in order to protect Animus data.[1]
