Saganaki was a promising racing horse belonging to Philocrates of Zephyros Stables in Kanopos, Egypt, during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.[1]

At some point in 48 BCE, bandits hired by the Veneta Blue racing team broke into the stables and stole the horse, leading it to an hideout outside of the town. However, when the Medjay Bayek of Siwa learned of the theft, he joined members of the Prasina Green racing team, among them Nikias, Philocrates' own son, and recovered the horse.[1]
