The Round City of Baghdad was built by Abbasid Caliph al-Mansur, serving as the city's original core and the official residence of the Abbasid court.[1] During this period, the city was known as the City of Peace (Arabic: Madinat As-Salam) and was famous for the library and academy, the House of Wisdom.[2]
