The Residential District of the Round City of Baghdad was located south of the Caliphal Palace. Not only was it home to the Harem of the Abbasid court, it was also home to numerous famous individuals including the poetess Arib Al-Ma'muniyya and the writer Al-Jahiz.[1]
In the 860s, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq travelled to the district to investigate Arib[2] and the Harem where the concubine Qabiha resided, both of whom were suspected to be the Ra's Al-Af'a of the Order of the Ancients.[3]
