Pelias

Pelias was the steward of Apollodorus' Estate in the Kanopos Nome during the 1st century BCE.[1]

Biography

In around 48 BCE, Pelias sent Ruia, a young worker to retrieve a letter from the pigeon post. When she failed to return, he sent the Medjay, Bayek, to investigate and retrieve the letter. Bayek discovered Ruia's body in a nearby haystack, bringing her back to Pelias. On her body Bayek discovered the letter and a badge which Pelias identified as belonging to Dymnos, the Master of Arms. While Bayek dealt with Dymnos, Pelias laid Ruia to rest. The Medjay later returned to him, reporting the Master of Arms' death and reason for his actions.[2]

Trivia

  • The name Pelias might be derived from the Greek word πέλεια (peleia), meaning 'rock pigeon'.
  • In Greek mythology, Pelias was the name of the king of Iolcus, the son of Tyro and Poseidon. He was the one who sent Jason to fetch the Golden Fleece.
