Pegasus was the adored horse of the Greek woman Kara in Alexandria, Egypt, during the 1st century BCE.
In 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa agreed to serve as a bodyguard to Kara, and along the way they fetched Pegasus, who had been reshod. When they had made their way to the market, a man stole Pegasus, but Bayek was able to return the horse to her owner.[1]
Trivia
- Pegasus shares her name with the mythical, winged stallion; Kara highlighted this connection by mentioning how she wished her horse would have wings. Bayek also considered it a fitting name. Unlike her mythical counterpart, Kara's Pegasus was a mare.
