Ning (died c. 860s), also known as Al-Pairika, was a Chinese merchant and collector based in Baghdad, where she was part of the Order of the Ancients. Using her power in the Order, she controlled the trade industry of the city from her seat of power in The Bazaar in Karkh, where she was known as The Treasurer.
Biography
Early life
Ning was born in the Tang dynasty and was sold by her parents to repay her family's debt. Growing up alone, these memories taught her to trust no one, and relied on her own skills to survive. Joining The Ivory Coin as a merchant, she relied on her calculating and cunning techniques to rise up the ranks and became the head of the organization, where she was known as the Treasurer.[1]
After moving to Baghdad in the Abbasid Caliphate, she joined the Order of the Ancients which further increased her sphere of influence and power.[2]
Death
She was assassinated by the Alamut Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq at the Da'irat Al-mal while looking for a Chinese exotic hairpin.[3]
