Josiah Burgess (1689 – 19 June 1719) was a pirate, close friend, and confidant of Benjamin Hornigold. He engaged in piracy for a few years prior to 1718, until Burgess accepted the British Crown's pardon after Woodes Rogers' arrival on Nassau and became a pirate hunter.
He and John Cockram were killed in 1719 by Edward Kenway on the island of Príncipe, on the coast of west Africa, in an attempt to rescue Bartholomew Roberts.
Trivia
- Burgess' database entry erroneously lists his date of death as 1721.
- Like his friend Cockram, Burgess is shown with a red colorscheme - similar to a Redcoat's - in development art, but has a blue and gold colorscheme in the actual game.
