Jeska was an Egyptian smuggler who lived in Mefkat during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.

Biography

In around 48 BCE, Sais was ruled by Sefetu, also known as the Firebrand, a ruthless governor who heavily taxed and abused the villagers, leading many of them to flee the town. Harkhuf, the town's brewer, worked alongside Jeska to evacuate the villagers out of the town, bringing them to her village to seek shelter. However, on one occasion, she was captured by Sefetu's men and brought to Fort Nikiou, where she was tortured. Jeska was eventually able to escape the fort, though not without suffering a burns and scar on the left side of her face.^[1]

Jeska later resumed her activities, with only her close friend Amosis, a fish merchant, knowing about her true fate. Harkhuf, on the other hand, believed Jeska to be dead and thus sent the Medjay, Bayek, to recruit Amosis. The merchant later directed Bayek to Jeska, who was loading a felucca with supplies to her village. The Medjay helped the smuggler to fend off attacking hippopotamuses before escorting her and the supplies back to the village. However, they came upon a sight of a burned village, with the soldiers of Sefetu responsible. Bayek was able to help Jeska eliminate the soldiers, and in the process, rescuing Pentu, one of the villagers Jeska had saved and bring him to her cousin's village to treat his wounds.^[1]
