Jean Henri Masers de Latude (23 March 1725 – 1 January 1805) was a French writer, who was famous for his escape from the Bastille.

During the French Revolution, Latude asked the Assassin Arno Dorian to infiltrate the Bastille and recover the famous twine and firewood rope-ladder used by him.
