Hestorikas (died 38 BCE) was a Greek steward who took charge of Yebu Nome in Upper Egypt during the 1st century BCE.
Biography
Around 38 BCE, Hestorikas devised of a scheme to force the Egyptians workers in the region to pay their dues more than the usual. First, he held the family of the fisherman Hagiel captive, threatening to slaughter them if he refused to go along with his plan. Following Hestorikas' instruction, Hagiel would then accuse another fisherman Dennu of tearing his nets, thus releasing Hestorikas' men on him. Hestorikas' plan was later discovered by the Hidden One Bayek of Siwa, who agreed to help an injured Dennu investigate.[1]
Later on, Hestorikas discovered that someone had been helping Dennu to investigate his scheme. As a warning to the Hidden One, Hestorikas murdered the visiting Dennu at his estate, and issued a note challenging Bayek at the Ship Construction Yard. Bayek accepted the challenge and eliminated Hestorikas and his men.[1]
