Haku was a Japanese blacksmith who lived in the village Fushimi.

Biography

During the Boshin War, Haku joined in the celebration of the local engagement of fellow villagers Madoka and Keitaro. When peddlers Atsuko and Ibuka came by the village, Haku offered his home to them as they joined in their festivities. They all spent the night celebrating with stories and jokes and feasting. [1] When the next day came, Haku tried to give a gift of shoddy knives to them but Atsuko gave back a gift in return for his hospitality. Unbeknownest to him, the local well was poisoned by Ibuka, who laced it last night before going to bed.[2]
