Adrianople was a northwestern city in Turkey.

History

In 1509, ailing Sultan Bayezid II began to move himself and his resources to Adrianople for his new palace, out of fear from the recent earthquake, of which his people named, "Little Judgment Day." While there, the sultan's vizier Taha Pasha grew agitated and concerned of his Sultan, due to his health and witless routine, and began looking to the next Sultan. Although it usually went to the first son, which was Prince Ahmet, Pasha saw him as unsuitable and favored his younger yet stronger brother, Selim. Meanwhile, he worked carefully with the Ottoman Assassins to protect Sultan Bayezid from an attempt by the Byzantine Templars.[1]
