Tsuruga Castle

Tsuruga Castle was a castle in Tsuruga in Wakasa, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke arrived at the castle to check in on Niwa Nagahide's relatives. Upon entering, they met with the relatives, who stated that they were fine. However, a familiar melody was played and then an onslaught of pirates attacked the castle. The pair, alongside the ashigaru, defeated the pirates. Afterwards, the Niwa elder told them to seek out Saifukuji Temple to discovered who played the melody.[1]

At some point, Naoe and Yasuke returned to the castle, eliminated two of its samurai daisho, looted the Master Archer Outfit from its treasure chest, climbed atop its highest tower to oversee the land,[2] and recovered the Niwa clan's kamon crest within one of its storehouses.[3]
