Saifukuji Temple is a Buddhist temple in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, Japan. During the Sengoku period, it was situated in Sotomo Gate in the Wakasa province.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke arrived at the temple and met with biwa master Shido. Within their discussion, Shido played the same melody that they heard from the attacks at Obama and Tsuruga. When they determined it was this tune, Shido revealed it was his student Takeda Motoaki whom he treated like a son but fell into business with the Shinbakufu and pirates.[1]

Before they left, Naoe and Yasuke were also told more about the Pirate Alliance while Shido revealed he left the post in Tsuruaga himself. After a while, they returned and told Shido that they dismantled the alliance, to which Shido thanked them, gifted them a key to a treasure chest at Koromodako Cave and joined their league as a scout.[2] At some point, they recovered two pages scattered around its grounds.[3]
