:That's the Roman variation of the name, as most of the Greek gods were assimilated into Roman culture after the Roman Empire conquered Greece. I feel that we should retain 'Hercules' as the name of the article and redirect 'Herakles' to this, like many of the Jupiter/Zeus articles. Even though Herakles is used more often, it doesn't discount the fact that the hero was introduced into the AC universe as 'Hercules'. XOdeyssusx (talk)

This is the discussion page for Herakles.
Here, you may discuss improving the article.

Name of the article

Given Odyssey, should we change this to Herakles? Originally, this article was named because of his appearance in the Glyphs/Rifts, but I'd daresay 'Herakles' is used way more in canon by now than 'Hercules'. Sadelyrate (siniath) 09:22, November 3, 2018 (UTC)

I agree, we should indeed use the name most used (in this case Herakles) in such a case. Kennyannydenny (talk) 09:27, November 3, 2018 (UTC)
Should we do the same then with Asclepius and Asklepios? If I recall right, most ingame locations and mentions of him are "Asklepios". Kennyannydenny (talk) 09:28, November 3, 2018 (UTC)
That's the Roman variation of the name, as most of the Greek gods were assimilated into Roman culture after the Roman Empire conquered Greece.
By our naming policy, the name used in the most recent appearance and/or the more prominent appearance takes precedence. Even if not so, Herakles is originally a Greek hero, not a Roman one, so using his original name would be more accurate. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 15:38, November 3, 2018 (UTC)
I assumed we’d treat it like we do Christopher Colombus. We have the article name in the anglicized/latinized version but the actual intro of the article starts with the original pronunciation. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 17:22, November 3, 2018 (UTC)
