Asfinn was a forest area that was inhabited solely by the druid priestess, Deirdre Na Linni, in eastern Connacht, Ireland
History
In the late 9th century, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan and the Irish poetess, Ciara ingen Medba, arrived in Asfinn to meet with Ciara's friend, Deirdre Na Linni, a druid priestess. Finding Deirdre's hut, Eivor and Ciara met with the priestess and asked her for her help against the Children of Danu's attack on Flann Sinna's army. Deirdre already knew about the poison and how each Child of Danu held the cure within their amber shard. Eivor affirmed to find one of the cultists as Ciara and Deirdre informed of possible evidence on "The Wren" at Port Auley.[1]
After she found and killed The Wren, Eivor collected the amber shard from The Wren's personal effects and traveled back to Asfinn. Finding Deirdre and Ciara, Eivor gave the amber shard to Deirdre, who quickly concocted the cure. Giving the cure to Ciara, Deirdre explained the procedures of giving the cure as Ciara quickly left. Deirdre also told Eivor about how every Child of Danu carried an amber shard and that with all of them, she could create a potion that would the force of the blazing sun.[1]
After exterminating all of the Children of Danu[2], Eivor came back to Asfinn with all of the amber shards and met with Deirdre. Giving the shards to Deirdre, Eivor waited as Deirdre created the potion. Deirdre informed Eivor of a battle against Balor to garner a spear, to which Eivor agreed. Eivor drank the potion and became transported to a vision of a burning stone circle, with Balor waiting for her.[3]
Soon, Eivor and Balor fought each other as Eivor defeated the giant. Eivor was soon released of the vision and found herself back in Asfinn and pulled out the Gae Bolg from a rock nearby. Eivor met with Deirdre once more as the priestess said the Gae Bolg is hers, for her work against the Children of Danu and defeating Balor. Eivor and Deirdre soon bid farewell to each other as Eivor left the area.[3]
