Uppsala is a city in Sweden. In late 10th century, it was the site of the Battle of Fýrisvellir.[1]
History
In the 9th century, while the army of Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok was camped at Upsalla, he spent nine moons teaching Skegjold Frenzy-Seeker the ritual of Drengr-Seiðr, in which a warrior would drink a sacred drugged ale and fight inside the frenzy that followed.[2]
Circa 985, on a nearby plain called Fýrisvellir, a battle for the throne of Sweden took place, between reigning King Eric the Victorious and his nephew, Styrbjörn the Strong. The Hidden Ones and Templars both were involved in the conflict, with the latter assisting Styrbjörn and the former backing Eric.[1]
Mythology
The Fýrisvellir is mentioned in the myth of Hrólfr, who escaped the pursuing forces of king Eaglis by scattering gold across the plains as a distraction.[3]
