Tjanefer riding on his boat

Tjanefer (died 48 BCE) was an Egyptian mercenary who was contracted by Hetepi, a priest of Ptah and a member of the Order of the Ancients, in Memphis, Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.

In 48 BCE, Tjanefer and his partner Tjuyu, together known as the Twins, were contracted by Hetepi to spread death and chaos in the vicinity of the Palace of Apries. Given the payment of 57,000 drachmae, half of which was paid in advance, the Twins dumped human organs around the waters of the city, luring crocodiles to the city and leading to an increase number of crocodile attacks on the residents of Memphis. Tjanefer and Tjuyu were later hunted down by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, who was sent by Thutmose to investigate the attacks.[1]
