Sutekh (died 34 BCE) was an Egyptain smuggler living in Thebes during the reign of Cleopatra, and a descendant of Ramesses II, a Pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt. He was also the nephew of Irsu.

Biography

Around 34 BCE, Sutekh’s parents were tragically killed by Irsu, who sought to prevent them from reporting his theft of one of Nefertiti’s sacred objects to the local authorities.[1]

While he sought to lift the curse by himself, he became embroiled in the travels of the Hidden One Bayek of Siwa.[1] After requesting him to end the calamity that was plaguing Thebes, Sutekh tried to distance himself from trouble but was soon captured by Isidora, who need him for a ceremony to restore Ma'at. Upon assassinating her and lifting the curse in the tomb of Tutankhamun, Bayek entrusted Sutekh with the relic that had been the curse's source. Bayek ordered Sutekh to hide the relic where no man would ever find it.[2]

"No, is this... Sutekh? He deserved more than this fate. And the relic is... gone. I pray to Amun he hid it well."
―Bayek upon finding Sutekh's body, 34 BCE[src]

Some time later, Bayek came across the body of Sutekh at the Cobra Oasis deep within the Waset Desert, southwest of Thebes, who had fallen prey to the local cobras. Bayek lamented the young man's death, but noted that the relic was missing and expressed hope that he hid it well before his demise.
