Suhail (died 860s), also known as Al-Anqa and The Tax Collector, was a member of the Order of the Ancients operating in Baghdad within the Abbasid Caliphate during the 9th century.

Biography

By the 860s, Suhail found himself part of the Order of the Ancients, working under Order leader Ning, also known as Al-Pairika. Under her instruction, he was ordered to raise the taxes on the merchants of The Bazaar, especially those of foreign backgrounds. However, his current directive was halted due to his struggles of finding the merchants on the road and letting his identity be discovered by one of them. However, he was threatened by Ning to remedy his issues. He later sent his men to find and kill the merchants and their associates on the road within Palm Grove and collect the taxes he mandated earlier.[1]

However, his plans were thwarted by the Alamut Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq,[1] who investigated the extortion rumors at The Bazaar per Rebekah and Roshan's request.[2] Waiting in his mansion, he began to worry over the delay of his guards, not realizing Basim had tracked him down. Quickly, he was assassinated by Basim,[1] who later investigated the mansion and found evidence of him working for someone by the initial N.[3]
