Sothis was the name Greeks called the Egyptian goddess known as Sopdet. She was the personification of the star Sirius, and was revered as a goddess of the fertility the yearly floods brought to the soil, since the star tended to herald the floods. In addition to this, she was considered to be a mother and a nurse, as well as a guide of the pharaohs through the underworld.
In time Sothis became almost completely just an aspect of Isis.
