Saizu (died 1868) was a Japanese rōnin.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Saizu was a veteran samurai but lost his honor after his daimyo betrayed him. He and eight other rōnin were contracted by British Templar William Lloyd to rob the Musashi Masamune from a local daimyo Saigo Kayano. He and the other rōnin agreed to stealing the katana for Lloyd.[1] One night, they all attacked the soldiers at Kayano's encampment. He and his fellow rōnin Nobusuke made their way with Lloyd and attacked the soldiers guarding Kayano.[2]

Saizu and Masajiro remained outside and dealt with Lady Nakano Takeko. While Masajiro fought against another female soldier, Saizu continuously blocked all the attacks Takeko threw his way. However, he was dealt a fatal side blow from Atsuko, who spared Masajiro upon their fight.[3]

Personality and traits[edit | edit source]

After cutting ties with his daimyo,[1] Saizu only cared about making a profit and kill whoever was in his way.[2]
