The Phylakes were elite soldiers of pharaoh Ptolemy XIII's army who were given orders to hunt down the Medjay, Bayek, after he assassinated the Phylakitai of Alexandria, Gennadios. Each member, with the exception of Abar, patrolled separate regions of Egypt and were later hunted down by Bayek himself.
