Officials were minor assassination targets, who often claimed to have witnessed the crimes committed by the Assassins and testified against them.
Should Ezio Auditore da Firenze commit an illegal act in their city, officials, who were normally respected members of society, would begin to falsely declare that they had personally witnessed him committing those acts.
Ezio would often seek them out to assassinate them, and silence their testimonies. However, most of the officials throughout Italia during the Renaissance were paranoid and would flee as soon as they caught sight of the Assassin, unless he was blending with nearby civilians.
In Constantinople during the 16th century officials would stay and fight Ezio should they spot him, and were always accompanied by a pair of Byzantine Militia. However, they were very weak, and as they had no armor, they were often very quickly killed in a fight. Also, if the Byzantine Militia were killed before them, they would very likely choose to flee instead of facing the deadly Assassin in open combat.
Trivia
- Officials, along with Heralds, are involved in the Social Stealth system. Killing one will lower your notoriety by 75% (50% in Revelations).
- Officials appear as a black and white eye on your mini-map.
- Officials always carry around 80 to 89 florins/Akce, which can be looted from their bodies after killing them. However, they rarely carried anything else.
