Lukas Zurburg (born 28 October 1322) was a member of the German Brotherhood of Assassins.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Born in Essen, Lukas was recruited into the Assassins at the age of sixteen after they saved him from an attempted robbery while traveling. In 1348, the Black Death hit Essen, wiping out nearly half the town's population. Subsequently, a group called the Brothers of the Cross, a secret Templar organization, started traveling through the Holy Roman Empire, promising protection from the plague.[1]

Lukas suspected they were after the Ankh, an ancient artifact said to be located somewhere in central Europe. In 1350, both the Brothers of the Cross and Lukas Zurbug mysteriously vanished.[1] Martina Wagner, a woman carrying Lukas' children, moved away from Essen to another country, where she raised their children Christof Ison and Wolfgang Scholz.[2]

Legacy[edit | edit source]

In May 2014, the Master Templar Juhani Otso Berg accessed a Data Dump Scanner file detailing Lukas Zurburg's life. This led him to Essen in search of the Ankh. However, due to lack of corroborating evidence, Berg and Violet da Costa theorized that it might have been a hoax spread by the Assassins to get Abstergo Industries to waste its time and resources on a fruitless search.[3]
