This article is about the magistrate of Cyrene. You may be looking for the pankration umpire.

Leander (died 47 BCE) was a Greek magistrate of Cyrene who allied himself with Flavius Metellus and Melitta during the 1st century BCE. He lived in a villa in Marmarica, and bribed and thieved however he wished, using public funds to pay for his own desires.[1]

Diocles and Simonides attempted to procure proof of Leander's corruption, but after failing to find it themselves, they requested the assistance of the Medjay Bayek of Siwa. Finding what they wanted, Bayek also learned of Leander's intent to ambush and kill all the other magistrates, gathered at the Apollonion of Cyrene, in order to solidify his own power. Bayek arrived in time to foil Leander's plot, whereupon he eliminated the corrupt magistrate and his men.[1]
