Faiyum, also known as Moiris in Greek, is an oasis in Egypt, located to the west of the Nile and south of Cairo. It was once a great sea, but by the time of the {Wiki|Old Kingdom of Egypt|Old Kingdom}}, the water levels had decreased, leaving behind the bones of ancient whales.
