Bion (died c. 56 BCE) was a soldier-turned-mercenary active in Egypt during the reign of Pharaoh Ptolemy XII Auletes. In 70 BCE, the Order of the Ancients member Raia hired him to eradicate the Medjay bloodline due to the threat it posed to the Order's goals.
Biography
Hunting the Medjay
Formerly a soldier in the Ptolemaic army, Bion later took up work as a mercenary. In 70 BCE, he was hired by the Order of the Ancients member Raia to eradicate the Medjay, who acted as protectors of the pharaoh and the people of Egypt. His first target was Emsaf, but as the Medjay had gone into hiding, Bion killed his wife Merti and young son Ebe instead.[1]
Eventually, Bion managed to outsmart Emsaf by using the corpse of a merchant he had killed as a decoy, tying it to his horse with ropes.
