The Order of the Sacred Garter is a British order of chivalry founded in 1348.^[1]

In 1868, following the death of the British Templars' Grand Master Crawford Starrick, Queen Victoria invested the Assassins Henry Green, Jacob and Evie Frye into the Order as a reward for their part in ending Starrick's plot to seize power. Members of the Order were granted the noble titles of "Sir" or "Dame", depending on their gender.^[2]
