Aban was a Tahirid emissary active in Persia in the early 860s.
Biography
In 862, Aban visited Alamut to meet with Mentor Rayhan. During their meeting, Aban said that the Tahirids were being pressured by "forces within the Caliphate" and that if the Hidden Ones continued to support the Zanj rebels, the Tahirids could not assure them protection from the Caliphate's response. Rayhan argued that without the rebels, the Hidden Ones would be blind to anything that happened in Baghdad, to which Aban suggested that they may have to act sooner than expected since Governor Muhammad ibn Tahir was commited to ending the rebellion swiftly.[1]
