WhyYou was a genetic genealogy website developed by the Abstergo Genetic Research Lab, a subdivision of Abstergo Industries. It allowed users to perform genealogical DNA testing under the guise of exploring their ancestry. In reality, the site served as a front for Abstergo Industries to identify individuals whose DNA could prove valuable to the company's ongoing objectives.
In 2023, Korean-American user Noa Kim used WhyYou to investigate his ethnic background and was informed that he had won a prize trip to Macau, China. However, the prize was a pretense orchestrated by Abstergo to lure Noa out and abduct him, enabling them to study his Assassin heritage in a controlled and secluded environment.[1]
