Vesta

Vesta (born Oidipous, died 47 BCE) was a Roman citizen of Cyrene, Cyrenaica who lived during the 1st century BCE.

Biography

The son of the prostitute named Vesta, he embarked on a quest of vengeance against three men who he believed to be involved in his mother's death, including his father Akakios.[1]

Behind the scenes

Vesta's real name is a variant of the name Oedipous, alluding to the figure in Greek mythology who, after being adopted as a baby, inadvertently slew his birth father Laios and then married his own mother, Jocasta.
