Rothenburg is an undercover informant for the Assassin Brotherhood working from inside Abstergo Industries.
Biography
As a spy for the Assassins, Rothenburg is trusted by the Assassin leader Gavin Banks because they have never asked for anything in return for their information, and if they were ever to do so, Gavin would terminate their operation. After an extended period of time without liaison, Rothenburg resumed contact in 2016 when they alerted Griffin to the kidnapping of several American teenagers by the Templars.[1]
They later contacted Gavin again about Griffin's hideout being compromised and incoming Abstergo guards coming to ambush him and Owen Meyers and Javier Mondragón.[2] With the race for the Fear Prong underway, Gavin made contact with Rothenburg again but was met with little information and a warning of cutting communications. They informed the Assassins of Isaiah's plans to go to Mongolia to find the prong.[3]
Behind the scenes
Because of the obvious dangers involved with their operation, their true identity is a secret. Owen suspected that Rothenburg was in fact Cole, an Abstergo field agent who had freed Sebastian Monroe, Owen, and Grace Collins from captivity at the Aerie and aided in their travels to Mongolia. However, when Owen brought this up with Cole, she expressed cluelessness, while Monroe explained that Cole had aided them in order to repay a past debt she owed him.[4]
