Richard Barrett Connolly (1810 – 1880), was an Irish-born American politician and member of the Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th century New York City and State.
A Templar of the American Rite, Connolly was a member of the infamous "Tweed Ring", a group of corrupt official among Tammany Hall which was lead by Grand Master William M. Tweed.
In 1863, the members of the ring met in Tweed's house in order to plan the New York City draft riots, which they hoped would eventually help them to put New York and the country under the control of their Order.
