Nikias was a Greek resident of Kanopos whose father, Philocrates, served as the patron of the Prasina Green, a group of chariot racers that Nikias, as well as his brother Icarus, belonged to.
Biography
Like his father and many members of the Prasina Green, Nikias highly respected Icarus, a prominent former racer of the team who won many races in the Lageion Hippodrome. His father, Philocrates, served as the team's patron, owning an estate and stable which trained horses for the team. When Icarus died in 48 BCE, the residents of Kanopos, including Nikias, greatly grieved his passing.[1]
When a memorial was held in front of the Hippodrome to commemorate Icarus' accomplishments, Nikias was one of many who attended. There, he was confronted and assaulted by Archippos and Maleos, members of Prasina Green's rival, Veneta Blue. Claridas, another member of the Blues, asked the duo to stop and allow Nikias to weep in peace. [2]
Later that night, Nikias visited the tavern in the town, where he overheard Claridas talking to an old friend, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa. Nikias visited Bayek on the second floor and invited him to join Green team, who were in need of racers. The conversation however was interrupted by Claridas who asked him to leave Bayek in peace.[2]

The next day, Bayek visited the stables, surprising Nikias. The young man introduced Bayek to his father, who requested the Medjay to take Nikias out on a chariot for a ride. Bayek and Nikias rode around the town and upon returning, they learned that one of Philocrates' horses, Saganaki, was stolen by bandits. Together with Bayek and various members of the Greens, Nikias led them to the Als Hideout, where they eliminated the bandits and recovered the horse.[3]
