Muza ben Abel Gazan (fl. 15th–16th century) was a Moorish Assassin of the Spanish Brotherhood and former military advisor of Sultan Muhammad XII during the Granada War.

Biography

Descended from a long and prestigious line of cavaliers,[1] Muza was a renowned warrior whose deeds on the battlefield were the stuff of legends to the younger, more inexperienced soldiers. The leader of a cavalry division, he famously created his own fighting style that allowed him to easily defend himself against multiple enemies, forcing them to expose their own weak-points to be exploited by his lightning-fast strikes with his pike. Having seen him implement this tactic many times when on the field, his soldiers gave him the moniker "the Asp".[2]

Behind the scenes

Muza ben Abel Gazan is a historical introduced in the Helix Rift Event Kinslayer for the mobile game Assassin's Creed: Rebellion. The event is dated to 1499, while according to the Romantic historian Washington Irving, Muza was never seen again after Granada surrendered in 1491.
