Margaux (born c. 1593) was the adoptive daughter of Catherine and the younger sister to Ermeline. Both sisters were raised in the Landes region of France, but while Ermeline dreamt of settling in a town, Margaux flourished in the simple life they led. In 1609, her mother was accused of witchcraft and taken to Bayonne, where she was burned alive as part of the Labourd witch-hunt of 1609. The Templar responsible, Pierre de Lancre, captured Ermeline as a hostage while Margaux managed to flee. She was taken in by Nicodemus, an Assassin close to her mother, who then began training her in the ways of an Assassin.[1]
