Livius (fl. 48 BCE) was an informant for the Order of the Ancients in Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.
Biography
In September 48 BCE, Livius was involved in a plot with a fellow Order member, Lucius Septimius, and the Gabiniani Venator to assassinate Ptolemy's sister Cleopatra in Herakleion. While snooping around the villa where Cleopatra was staying, Livius was captured by Apollodorus, who had him beaten and interrogated for information.[1]
Livius was forced to reveal several details of his involvement with the Order and was later brought before Cleopatra and the Medjay Bayek of Siwa. Bayek further beat up Livius, believing he knew who was responsible for the death of his son, Khemu. Before he was taken away, Livius revealed the location where the plot against Cleopatra was taking place: a brothel in the city. Namely that of Helen, where Livius had payed for the servcies of the 'legendary twins'.[1]
