Jumbe was a war elephant which was stationed and trained in a Roman camp located in the far east corner of Herakleion Nome.
In 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, having learned of the location from the nearby Mithidrates Roman Camp, travelled to the camp and eliminated the war elephant before it could be used by the Roman Army.
Trivia
- Jumbe means 'chief' in Swahili and is possibly also a reference to Jumbo, an African Elephant owned by the Barnum and Bailey’s Circus in the late 1800’s.
