Jan Kubiš (1913 – 1942) was a Czech soldier in the Czechoslovak Army, active during World War II.[1] In 1942, Kubiš and his comrade Jozef Gabčík were tasked with assassinating the SS Obergruppenführer and Einsatzgruppen's commander Reinhard Heydrich in Prague.[2] Although they managed to kill their mark, their group was discovered two weeks later and Kubiš was killed in a fierce gun fight.[3]
