Hotephres was a Greek informant of Apollodorus, helping him investigate the mysterious Order of the Ancients. He lived in Euhemeria with his Egyptian wife Khenut and their daughter Shadya.

Around 49 BCE, Apollodorus sent the Medjay Bayek to recover the ledger Hotephres stole from a magistrate, which contained the true identity of The Crocodile.
