Haku was a Japanese blacksmith who lived in the village of Fushimi.

Biography[edit | edit source]

During the Boshin War, Haku joined in the celebration of the local engagement of fellow villagers Madoka and Keitaro. When the disguised siblings Shiba Atsuko and Shiba Ibuka came by the village dressed as peddlers, Haku offered his home to them as they joined in their festivities. They all spent the night celebrating with stories or jokes and feasting.[1] When the next day came, Haku tried to gift the pair a set of poor-quality knives while Atsuko gave him a gift as thanks for his hospitality. Unbeknownst to him, Ibuka had poisoned the local well, lacing it on the night of the party before going to bed.[2]
